CASE FILE 33 - Close Encounter at Skegness

Jack and Mavis Sargent and their three young boys were on holiday at Ingoldmells, back in1968. It was a September night around 9 pm and the children were getting tired, so Jack and Mavis decided to leave the social club and head back to their caravan. Jack called in at the chip shop for the familyÆs supper, while Mavis and the children made their way to the caravan. Mavis had a feeling that she was being watched and consequently looked up. She was astonished to see a classic flying saucer about the size of a bus slowly moving just above the caravans. It was approximately sixty feet away, and Mavis stated that she could have reached it with a long ladder.

Mavis had a feeling that there were two occupants in the craft, although she didnÆt see anyone. She got very excited. As the craft tilted and flew over the nearby bungalows, it appeared to descend and Mavis thought that it was going to land in the next field. As it manoeuvred she noticed that the base of the craft had moving parts which she described as machinery.

Mavis and her children ran past the bungalows to see where they thought it had come down. There was no sight of the craft, no landing marks, and they thought that it might have gone into a hole, but there wasnÆt one.

They were in their caravan when Jack returned home with their supper. Mavis and Jack stayed up into the early hours of the morning talking about her sighting.
